H+ Summit@Harvard draws futurists such as Ray Kurzweil, Stephen Wolfram
The H+ Summit@Harvard: Rise of the Citizen Scientist, being held the weekend of June 12-13 in Cambridge, Mass., is anything but your run-of-the-mill conference.
The main topic of the event is transhumanism, described as the betterment of the human condition (the aging process, our intellect, where we live) through technology.
Speakers will include inventor and author Ray Kurzweil and advanced search/knowledge engine creator Stephen Wolfram.
Session topics have titles like: Is Deep-Layered Machine Learning the Catalyst for an Artificial General Intelligence Revolution? and Why We Age, How Aging is Good For You, How to Live Two Years Longer Using Your Cell Phone & Beyond
Non-profit Humanity+ and the Harvard College Future Society are behind the event.
While a slew of transhuminism supporters will be on hand at the event, the movement does have its critics, some of whom have ethical concerns and others of whom find transhumanism’s goals far-fetched.
