Guess who didn’t get an invite to today’s WWDC event? Come on, go ahead and take a guess. No seriously, who do you think won’t be live blogging Steve Jobs’ bevy of announcements today?
Okay okay, this isn’t too exciting of a game given that the answer is overwhelmingly obvious.
Even if you don’t regularly follow tech news, there was no escaping Gizmodo’s iPhone scoop of the century this past April. And while Gizmodo undoubtedly reaped the benefits of increased pageviews and worldwide familiarity, they’re now suffering the consequences.
In a piece of news that shouldn’t surprise anyone, Apple did not extend a WWDC invite to Gizmodo this year, and something tells me the “Gizmodo ban”, as it were, will be in effect for as long as Steve Jobs is at the helm of Apple.
Undeterred, Gizmodo is still planning to liveblog the event in that it’s publicly recruiting folks who did secure tickets to take photos, video, and notes about the event as it happens.
We are also in need of those who can and want to send us live video, audio, instant messages and high-end photographs instantly—from the keynote. Even professionals may apply.
If you’re a serious volunteer who just wants to help, there’s room for you, too—if have the gear. We’re looking especially for folks with extra battery packs, CDMA 3G cellular data equipment, long lenses on professional recent-generation DSLRs and the ability to upload photos quick as lightning on a tethered laptop.
Um, yeah. Good luck with that.
