Part 3: Link Fragmentation and Interleaving (LFI)
In the third of three QoS videos, we discuss the theory of Link Fragmentation and Interleaving (LFI) and demonstrate the configuration of an LFI mechanism, Multilink PPP (MLP).
LFI is considered a “link efficiency” mechanism, because it tries to make the most efficient use of the relatively limited WAN bandwidth. As you’ll see in the video, LFI can fragment a large data payload, and then “shuffle” in the smaller voice packets in amongst the now fragmented data packets. The result is less serialization delay for the voice packets. In the video you’ll be able to hear the before and after difference in voice quality. Enjoy
