Use of iSCSI rather than traditional Fibre Channel to connect servers to block storage is growing in popularity, although still less common than FC. Companies that are more aggressive in their IT strategies, one measure of which is amount of money spent on IT, are more likely to deploy it: for example, companies spending more than 5% of their revenues on IT are already using iSCSI for 40% of their systems, and expect to have more than 50% using it within 2 years. Using iSCSI ties to using 10G Ethernet to connect storage devices and blade chassis, and especially to use of virtual servers. As server virtualization gradually makes further into UC, iSCSI will follow along naturally.
