Professional services firms are at top of list of vertical industries.
On the whole, IT staffs say optimization rollouts are successful, according to Nemertes’ data. On a 1 (unsuccessful) to 5 (extremely successful) scale, the average rating for WAN optimization rollouts is 3.57. However, there is significant variation across industries: professional services firms rate their success close to 5, while financial services firms hit only 2. The typical performance challenges in the past have varied more across businesses than they will in the future: financial service companies had a huge emphasis on wide-area file service and compression for backups, where financial services companies were more likely to have a steadily shifting array of client/server applications’ traffic to optimize as well. As real-time communications continue to spread through organizations in all industries, we expect challenges to become more similar, and so success to vary less.
