Users get optimization without capital investment or a need for skilled staff
Carrier-managed optimization delivered as a layered service on top of Internet and WAN connectivity is of great interest to IT organizations, despite the fact that it is a pretty recent development (two years ago you’d have been hard-put to find any). The appeal is easy to understand for both sides: carriers get a new way to differentiate from each other in an age of cheap bandwidth; users get optimization without capital investment or a need for skilled staff. As hosted and managed UC also spread, optimization is likely to become part of the package when the provider is a carrier.
