Google really is becoming much more family-friendly. Not only is it cleaning up YouTube, but now its partnered with the family-oriented Hallmark Channel as part of its TV Ads platform–just in time for the holidays.
According to this post by CNET’s Don Reisinger, Hallmark went with Google to tap its knowledge of non-TV type advertising:
According to Hallmark, many of the advertisers it’s now trying to attract through Google’s TV Ads platform are new to the television platform, so it will provide more in-depth viewership data to help advertising partners make “real-time adjustments” to campaigns.
This is because Google’s TV Ads program, unlike traditional TV advertising, uses targeting tools and an auction-based pricing system (much like its online AdSense program) for the TV ads, charging advertisers only for the number of impressions per ad.
As Hallmark’s Bill Abbott explains in the official press release:
“Partnering with Google is a milestone for Hallmark Channel’s continued advertising success. The Google TV Ads platform will allow more advertisers to access the network’s acclaimed roster of family-friendly programming – entertainment that audiences cherish during the holidays.”
The Hallmark win adds yet another cable channel to Google’s roster of clients, which includes the Sci-Fi channel, MSNBC, CNBC, Sleuth, Chiller and Bloomberg Television.
