My name is Scott Hogg and I have been a Network World subscriber for about a decade. I have never blogged so forgive me if I don’t follow certain etiquette or protocol. However, speaking of protocols, they are one of my favorite things to learn. In fact, these days IPv6 is the protocol that holds my attention. I have been learning, testing, and working with IPv6 technologies since about 2000. Recently Eric Vyncke and I wrote a book on IPv6 Security. That experience has renewed my interest in sharing ideas with the broader networking community and this blog fits into that plan. https://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=1587055945 In this blog I am going to be writing about various topics related to core networking and security. Many of my posts will have something to do with IPv6 because it is a fascinating and emerging protocol. My goal is to share knowledge from my experiences as a network and security consultant at GTRI (a systems integration company in Denver Colorado; www.gtri.com). I am the Director of Advanced Technology Services and GTRI where we provide network-based solutions to our clients to enable their businesses and improve their ability to communicate. I am also one of the many consultants at GTRI who provide high-quality solutions to help our customers solve their most challenging network problems. From these experiences I will share war stories, discuss new products that I have used successfully, and share ideas that can hopefully help you avoid pitfalls that I have encountered.
