And now for some completely different….or is that you must get us a shrubbery?
As I mentioned in an earlier blog, enhancing your skill set is critical in turbulent times and our current business environment would certainly qualify as such now. Many businesses are closing and still even more are laying workers off or at least not hiring workers to fill empty positions. The training industry is not immune from these issues either. Just as IT budgets are shrinking, so is the training budget within the IT world. The IT budget is one of the first to be trimmed and then the training budget is the first within the IT department to be cut. Hopefully this current financial quagmire will be cleared up by the 2nd or 3rd of next year – or at least showing signs of not deteriorate any further.
So, as I stated in an earlier blog – one of the certifications I am going to attempt to earn (don’t want to jinx myself by automatically assuming success) is the CISSP. That is one of my goals and an attempt to further my skill set. Now, you have read my ideas for the last few months – now I would like to hear yours. What certification(s) are you planning on earning next year and why? Nothing formal – just a quick post and I’ll consolidate the information and post it mid January – give folks a chance to give their input on this subject. Now given this is a MICROSOFT blog – I would love to hear everyone say they are going to earn an MCTS or MCITP – maybe even a MCM – but any certification is fine. So let’s say I will tally the score and post the week of 26 Jan 2009 – give everyone a month to decide.
What is your New Years IT Resolution?
