This is a Beta – no this is THE Beta

Well, maybe not JUST a Beta, but rather THE Beta, or at least the Beta for Desktop Operating Systems.  In case you haven’t read any computer magazine or had glanced at the numerous postings – but Windows 7 is in Beta right now!  Yes, the successor to Vista is one step closer.  While this is not strictly a Microsoft Certification subject – I can assure you that there will be several MCTS certifications on Windows 7 as well as at least one MCITP in the not so distant future!

The original Beta period was to end on 9 Jan 2009, but has been extended until 24 Jan 2009 due to popular demand (or rather overwhelming demand) and some issues with the infrastructure behind the download process. At any rate – if you want to be get involved in this beta, download Windows 7 soon as I am sure demand will outstrip capacity the closer you wait to the 24th.

What have people been saying about Windows 7 and have there been any issues with the product?  From those individuals I have talked to who have installed Windows 7 they have been very impressed with the product.  Yes, there have been some issues – which is to be expected given that it is a Beta and not a Release Candidate.  Mostly it seems to be drivers (remember when XP first came out and there were driver issues?). But for a beta, It is amazingly stable, feature rich and a pleasure to work with.  This will be a welcome change from another recent operating system!
