“Change we can count on” with Obama Cyber Security Review. Kidding people….

Analysis
Feb 17, 20092 mins

Well president Obama ordered his National Security and Homeland Security advisors Feb. 9 to conduct an immediate review of the U.S. government’s cyber-security plans, programs, and activities. The person heading the 60-day review will be Melissa Hathaway, who served as the cyber-security coordinator executive under Mike McConnell, former President Bush’s Director of National Intelligence.

Back to the same old same old in Washington, I guess this is “Change we can count on”. Obama just does not get it; he needed to get a panel of the most credible security personnel, hackers and maybe some foreign security guru’s. Let’s face it; the people who were in involved with cyber security in the Bush administration should not be let back in the door.

Melissa Hathaway was also named a senior director at the National Security Council and numerous media accounts have mentioned her as a top candidate to serve as Obama’s cyber-security chief. A former Booz Allen consultant, Hathaway led a group that developed Bush’s National Cyber Security Initiatives. So with that said it makes me feel better at night, just kidding people.

Obama needs someone who knows the underground, the foreign aspect, old and new problems, not a consultant that will tell him what he wants to hear. Maybe when his Blackberry gets hacked he will get it, until then I don’t think he will. He will let the same old people back in the door and it is business as usual. “Now that’s Change we can count on”.
