The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) this weekend will host the 4th annual National Cyber Defense Competition, as an elite eight college teams will battle to see which is best at protecting data from would-be hackers.
Competitors include defending champ Baker College of Flint, Mich., plus Northeastern University; Dakota State University; University of North Carolina, Charlotte; Texas A&M; Cal Poly Pomona; University of Pittsburgh; and University of Washington.
The competition is the brainchild of the UTSA’s Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security. Here’s a promotional video.
Separately, 37 teams of Iowa high school students will participate in a similar sort of competition dubbed the IT-Olympics at Iowa State University, home to one of the coolest university networking labs. Other teams will program LEGO robots and show off educational computer games they concocted. (We reported on last year’s winners here)
