At its Partner Summit this week, Cisco unveiled a bevy of products for the SMB market. They include switches, an IP telephony gateway, an IP video surveillance camera, and a new release of telephony software.
The product splash is part of Cisco’s $100 million Small Business Pro effort, which was launched late last year. The global market for networking products aimed at businesses with 100 or fewer employees is $10 billion, Cisco said at the time.
The new switch is the ESW 500 series. These are managed Ethernet switches that come with an “enhanced” five-year warranty, including next business day hardware replacement, free software fixes, 90 days of complimentary tech support and one year of click-to-chat support.
The SPA8800 IP Telephony Gateway enables small businesses to connect their Open Source IP PBX to existing analog phones and fax machines. The PVC300 IP Camera helps small companies protect their employees and business property via live video that can be viewed from an Internet-enabled mobile phone, among other interfaces.
The camera features pan, tilt and zoom capabilities, and software to manage up to 16 cameras from one location. It provides alerts when motion is detected and supports integration with alarms, door sensors and security systems, and with Cisco’s NSS2000 and NSS3000 Network Storage Systems to store and backup video.
Release 1.5 of Cisco’s Smart Business Communications System software includes new applications to foster collaboration and improve customer service. One is WebEx PhoneConnect, which enables small businesses to view meetings and join online conferences by pressing a button on their Cisco IP phone.
Another is Cisco TimeCardView, which allows staff to clock in and out, track hours and download information to payroll applications from their IP phone. Also, Single Number Reach routes calls to a customer service agent’s desk phone, mobile device, soft phone or other device.
The ESW 500 switches range in price from $659 to $3,300, and are available now. SBCS Release 1.5 starts at $453 per user in an eight-user configuration. It is also available now.
Cisco SPA8800 IP Telephony Gateway is listed at $600. It will be available in North America later this month. The PVC300 IP Camera is listed at $794 and is available now.
