Four factors impact prosperity, entrepreneurship, innovation, technology and human capital.
This blog is about startups. It will introduce you to a wide range of interesting startups from around the world. It is my hope that I will help acquaint you with new ideas, and with young companies that could be your next partner or that you may want to work for.
According to the Organization of Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), there are four factors that impact growth and prosperity in the world. They are entrepreneurship, innovation, Information & Communications Technology and human capital. That’s it. It’s just that simple.
Think about it. When we make statements such as ‘the BRIC countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China, have become increasingly competitive on the global stage leading to a stronger middle class that is now subscribing to mobile services, playing multi-player games, and buying virtual flowers,’ what do we mean? We mean it’s the businesses in these countries that are competitive. Businesses are the economic building blocks of nations. They create innovation by commercializing invention and making people’s lives better. As their usefulness in people’s lives grows, they grow, in turn creating jobs and increasing standards of living.
This is why promoting entrepreneurship is critical. Without the valiant entrepreneurs from around the world who stick their necks out to express their ideas for doing things better, faster and cheaper, the growth of the world stalls.
I’ve worked with ideas for many years, in the field of strategic research at Microsoft. I’ve brought together research, thinking, and ideas to impact product development, technology investments, acquisitions and corporate strategic shifts. I love finding patterns and working with them to innovate. I recently moved to the Emerging Business Team at Microsoft. I get to work with startups; to help them become successful businesses. Yes, I want them to use our technologies, because I believe our technologies are among the best at scale. At the same time, our technologies may not be the right solution for every startup. Check us out at MicrosoftStartUpZone.com and give a few of our programs such as Microsoft® BizSpark™ a try. Tell me how we can make them better.
This blog though, is about one thing. It’s about valiant startups, ideas and innovation.
