Linxter connects all kinds of applications, devices, and systems in the cloud
Linxter is a cloud messaging framework for connecting all kinds of applications, devices, and systems. A behind-the-scenes, message-oriented cloud-based middleware technology, Linxter automates the complex tasks that developers face when creating communication-based products and services. With everything becoming Internet enabled (iPods, clothing, toasters… anything), Linxter’s solution securely, easily, and dynamically connects all these things.
Anything that is connected to the Internet (IP addressable endpoints) can connect to each other through Linxter’s dynamic communication channels. Not only can these channels move data between any number of endpoints, they can be reconfigured on the fly, simplifying the creation of communication-based products and services.
One of the more difficult challenges as cloud computing takes hold, is that enterprises will eventually want to re-architect their applications to take advantage of the cloud, not just move them into a hosted solution. This means that every aspect of the application will become its own service. Linxter has turned messaging middleware into a service.
Linxter offers the service as a hosted fee-based service, enterprise licensing, and on-premise solutions.
In an interview on MicrosoftStartupZone.com, Linxter’s founder and CEO Jason Milgram explained the genesis of Linxter. “Back in December 1999 I was contemplating what was going to be the next big thing. To be big, it had to be inevitable and that meant it had to be part of the human condition. Being a tech geek, I just knew we would end up embedding a microchip in everything. Every industry would figure out what benefits would be of doing this. They did and they are! We’ve embedded chips in clothing, shoes, light bulbs… and the list expands each day. The implication was that everything would become smarter. Applications, devices, and systems would be able to talk (send and receive data). I saw a missing link, but it would be about 8 years before the timing was right to act on it. We would need a way to ensure everything could talk to each other in a secure, reliable, and dynamic manner. This would require a ubiquitous communications framework – and so Linxter was born.”
The words “inevitability” and “part of the human condition” are music to a marketer’s ears. It is great to see a startup think this way.
