Met with Kevin Matheson of Technisource this morning. He had asked me to stop by to do a face-to-face meeting. While we went over my resume, he brought in the account manager for the customer I was being pitched to.
The account manager kept pushing me for what I was best at. I told him that I was strong in several areas. He didn’t seem to like this answer. I got the distinct impression that he was looking for people who were very deep in a few areas.
I told him that I thought companies would place value in someone who was good in multiple areas. I also said that I was always told that the individual should mold himself to the job and not make the job mold itself to the individual. The account manager told me that it could be upwards of six months or longer before something might open up. Left that meeting not expecting much from this recruiting firm.
Attended an online orientation meeting of NerdsOnSite. In this situation, I would be an independent contractor servicing a variety of customers.
Since attending the online orientation, I have filled out two different questionaires. Waiting to hear back from the folks at NerdsOnSite to see if am a candidate for being one of their eNerds.
I have thought for a while about having my own business. This may be the make or break time to do it.
