AT&T has announced that it now serves 1 million AT&T U-verse SM Voice digital home phone lines. U-verse Voice is a consumer VoIP service introduced two years and now available in select AT&T local service areas across 22 states. It is also the only wireline service from a Tier 1 carrier that uses an IP-Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for session control. AT&T is using the advanced VoIP service to help it retain wireline customers; more than 67% of new U-verse TV customers also bundle a U-verse Voice service.
Agito’s latest release includes support for the Apple iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, as well as the BlackBerry Bold 9700. The release also includes new enterprise-class features, including a platform able to meet enterprise scalability requirements of up to 10,000 users, which is the most in the industry. Agito’s Global Enterprise solution enables enterprise business calls and unified communications applications such as instant messaging and presence using a smartphone’s 3G Internet data connection and Wi-Fi in addition to the cellular network; the company notes that by using a data connection, callers can reduce international cellular charges by as much as 80%.
Zeacom has unveiled its gateway for Microsoft Office Communications Server, targeted to provide the small and medium business market with affordable OCS integration. In a statement, Zeacom President Ernie Wallerstein said: “We provide users with the simple access to OCS; with Zeacom, users have the seamless, integrated access to manage their desktop phone via OCS.”
Vidyo has announced the availability of the VidyoRoom HD-220, the first telepresence room system based upon the Intel Core i7 processing platform and available for $6,995. The VidyoRoom HD-220 delivers support for two 1080p video streams at 30 frames per second for dual monitor support. Commenting on the solution in a statement, Ofer Shapiro, CEO of Vidyo, said: “Vidyo is the only company providing a software-based personal telepresence solution that extends from room systems to desktops . . . with less than half the end-to-end latency of MCU-based solutions to maximize real-time collaborative experiences.”
