Neotel has reinforced its intention to compete with Telkom South Africa after signing an agreement with Vox Telecom as the preferred supplier of telecommunications infrastructure for enterprise customers.

“It’s a testament from an industry peer such as Vox to the quality of the Neotel network and the attractiveness of the products and services,” said Ajay Pandey, Neotel CEO and managing director.

The deal, worth 250 million South African rand (US$25.7 million), strengthens Neotel’s year-old enterprise division, which has built up a sizeable customer base and annual revenue in excess of 1 billion rand from enterprise customers.

“The market has been waiting a long time for an alternative to Telkom, and we are delighted that we can now offer our clients the full range of Neotel’s enterprise voice and data products,” said Vox Telecom CEO Doug Reed.

“Neotel now has direct access to our clients, which include South Africa’s top 250 companies, as well as a large number of medium-sized and smaller companies,” Reed added. “For our clients, it means we can offer a single, consolidated telecommunications service, with some very exciting products that offer great cost savings.”
