New version safeguards USB and print ports, watches Microsoft SharePoint for unauthorized corporate data
Orchestria announces the sixth version of its data-leak prevention product, adding a way to block and monitor USB and print ports, watch Microsoft SharePoint for unauthorized corporate data, among other features.
Orchestria, whose product by the same name is used for regulatory controls and data-leak prevention, Tuesday announced an updated version that adds monitoring and data management capabilities.
Orchestria 6 has software agents that can run on desktops and servers, plus a network appliance to monitor and block transfers of content in e-mail and files. The latest version extends data monitoring to detect unauthorized content related to a USB port or printer, and can also scan Microsoft SharePoint and Exchange folders for corporate data that shouldn’t be there.
“It could delete [unauthorized content] automatically when it found it,” says Andy Grygiel, Orchestria’s senior vice president of marketing. He notes Orchestria 6 also adds a way to tag data so it can be assigned to records and deposited in an archive. The latest version of the management console can function like a dashboard, providing a high-level view of incidents over a period of time.
Orchestria, which says it has 250 enterprise customers, competes against vendors such as Symantec, Reconnex, Websense and Vericept.
Orchestria 6 is priced at $200,000 but can cost as much as $400,000.
