Last time I wrote about a NAC survey done by TheInfoPro. Today’s newsletter follows up with more results from that survey.
The major result reported last time was that some early NAC users were actually taking the gear out of commission because it fell short of expectations.
Despite that, the research found that 50% of those interviewed still have plans to implement NAC, 29% to do so within two to four years. The rest have plans to do so within the next two years.
Forty seven percent say they will spend more on NAC in 2008 than they did this year, while 9% say they will spend less, the TIP survey found.
TIP conducts surveys with 221 end users from firms with $1.4 billion or more in revenue every six months. Each user is prequalified by TIP as being decision-makers for network planning, vendor-selection and purchasing, Trussell says. Each interview lasts an hour to an hour and a half.
The firm tries to reach all the same respondents from one survey to the next, and gets between 80% and 85% repeaters, says Trussell.
The top four vendors used or being considered by those who are either using NAC or actively considering it, in order: Cisco, Symantec, Juniper and Microsoft.
TIP asked how much respondents planned to spend on NAC this year, and found that those planning to spend more than $500,000 jumped from 12% to 22%. (Separate from this survey, one NAC vendor recently boasted that it had received multiple orders for more than $100,000.)
