Description: It’s small, it’s thin, it’s sleek, it’s silver, and it offers 7.1 megapixels for less than $150. Which is pretty good, since I remember paying $500 for a 3 megapixel camera not so long ago. DXG is a Taiwanese company that has hit the U.S. market targeting the youth audience with an easy-to-use, inexpensive, stylish camera. Or, as the company says in its marketing material, it’s targeting “mainstream mid- and late-adopters of mid- and entry-level digital cameras.” I’m not sure what that means exactly, but the DXG-711 is easy to use, fun and lightweight in every sense of the word.
The technical specs look like this: 3x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD, built-in 32MB flash memory, video recording at 640 by 480 resolution, 30 frames per second with sound, digital voice recorder and pre-set scenes for “sports” or “portrait.” If you’re looking for a full-featured professional digital camera, this isn’t it. But for $149, DXG has packed a lot of punch into a small package.
