Description: Should your earphones/headphones cost more than your iPod? That’s the question consumers need to answer when they consider these expensive audio accessories. On the one hand, why pay $119 for something that comes with your iPod for free? On the other hand, why listen to crappy-sounding music? Why not get the maximum enjoyment out of your iPod?
The question then comes down to whether you want these high-tech, noise cancelling gizmos from Bose and other companies that can cost in the $300 range. Or do you want a more simple, low-tech set of earphones that provide a tight fit in your ear to block out external sound.
The Shure earphones simply add a piece of rubbery, black plastic (which comes in various sizes, so you can experiment and pick the one that suits you best) to the earphone so it molds to the shape of your ear. It works great, it blocks out noise and allows you to listen to your iPod (and not destroy your ear drums) in noisy places like airplanes. It’s also lighter, smaller and easier to carry around than those giant headphones. The only downside would be that it does get a little uncomfortable after a while having these things stick so tightly into your ears.
