Barry Allen was responsible for network, information technology operations
Qwest Communications this week said Barry Allen, executive vice president of operations, will retire from the company June 29.
He will be replaced by Robert Tregemba, currently vice president of network operations and engineering.
Allen is responsible for Qwest’s network and information technology operations. He was formerly president of Ameritech, the Chicago-based RBOC acquired by SBC in 1999. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Wisconsin Bell and president and CEO of Illinois Bell.
In a statement, Allen said he decided to spend more time with his family.
Tregemba will report to Qwest CEO Richard Notebaert. He has served as head of network operations since 2004.
Reporting to Tregemba will be Pieter Poll, vice president and CTO.
