The head of Advanced Micro Devices is predicting a seismic shift in the balance of power in both the chip industry and the world of IT as a whole, with influence shifting from vendors to users. The move could particularly benefit the health-care industry, which is still struggling to find ways to move forward with technology.
OPENWORLD – Oracle president justifies acquisition policy, 10/23/06
Oracle remains committed to growth via acquisition, according to its President Charles Phillips. The strategy is proving to be a cost-effective way for the company to extend its technologies as well as deepen its knowledge of specific industries, he told attendees at Oracle’s OpenWorld conference Sunday in San Francisco.

3GSM ASIA – 3G for mobile broadband? Think again, 10/25/06
The GSM Association, an industry group comprised of mobile operators, wants to see 3G cellular technologies used for wireless broadband in notebook PCs, but operators will have to change their way of doing business to make that happen.
