Fortinet and Trend Micro have settled a patent dispute in which Fortinet was accused of violating Trend’s anti-virus patents.
The settlement terms were not disclosed, but it draws to a close a dispute from last year in which Trend claimed and the International Trade Commission backed up, that Fortinet was using Trend’s intellectual property.
In a statement issued by both companies today, Fortinet’s CEO Ken Xie said settling the dispute would let the company focus on business. Fortinet’s multi-function security platforms include firewall, VPN and anti-virus software among other options.
Trend’s CEO Eva Chen said the settlement protects her company’s intellectual property.
