McAfee promotes Kevin Weiss to president, and makes CFO Eric Brown the new COO.

McAfee Tuesday announced it had promoted Kevin Weiss to president and that CFO Eric Brown will become the company’s COO.

Weiss previously served as McAfee’s executive vice president of worldwide sales prior to the appointment and will be driving strategic direction, global marketing, sales and technical support operations, the company said in a statement.

He replaces Gene Hodges, who departed in January to become president and CEO of Websense, succeeding John Carrington, who became that company’s chairman, Websense said in a statement.

Brown joined McAfee in January 2005 as CFO and was responsible for all worldwide finance functions. In his expanded role, he will be responsible for all aspects of worldwide finance, manufacturing and administrative operations, the company said.

Brown replaces former COO Stephen Richards, whose position was vacant since his retirement at the end of 2004.
