* ICSA Labs releases names of certified gear
Periodically, the ICSA Labs releases the names of VPN gear that has passed it’s certification tests, and there is a new list just out.
The tests zero in on specific attributes that the devices have, and if the features perform as they should, the devices are certified. For a complete list of the certification criteria, see https://www.icsalabs.com/html/communities/ipsec/certification/criteria/index.shtml
The tests say nothing at all about the performance of features outside of the certification test. ICSA also publishes tips (https://www.icsalabs.com/html/communities/ipsec/certification/index.shtml – click on VPN Product Technical Configuration Guidelines) on how to configure IPsec VPN gear to interoperate with other vendors’ equipment.
The tests go through revisions periodically to add criteria that must be met in order to win certification. This is to give vendors the chance to win certification even if they don’t have all the bells and whistles that some other vendors may have. ICSA and the vendors try to reach an agreement on what features customers might reasonably expect when setting up the criteria.
The most recently certified gear is:
* Eicon Networks Corporation: Shiva VPN Gateway Group Members 2105, 3105 and 3115.
* Fortinet: Fortigate 60 Appliance v2.8.
* SonicWall: SonicWall Internet Security Product Group’s PRO2040, 3060, 4060, 5060 TZ170, TZ170 Wireless, TZ170SP, TZ170SP Wireless.
* Stonesoft: StoneGate Firewall.
