Latest consumer electronics wow the crowds at CES

If you’re wondering which home theater system to buy for viewing SuperBowl 2006 (or 2005, if you’re a quick decision maker) the exhibitors at last week’s Consumer Electronics Show extravaganza in Las Vegas showed off more HDTVs and home media devices that you could ever hope to see on your trip to the local electronics store. This year CES showed that the worlds of consumer electronics and enterprise computing are colliding. Vendors showed off high-speed WLAN technologies for flat plasma screens and video servers, while Panasonic said its future crop of consumer devices will support IPv6. It may be that the consumer electronics world will soon surpass the enterprise world in its use of advanced technologies.
