* AT&T’s CallVantage now geared toward small offices
Last week, AT&T announced it would market its CallVantage service to small offices and home offices.
The company’s offer includes two lines, unlimited local and long distance in the U.S. and Canada, and the ability to send and receive faxes – all for $50 a month. Additional lines can be added for $7.49 per line.
Other features include voice mail accessible both by phone and from a computer, a “Record & Send” feature to update as many as 20 clients or colleagues simultaneously with a single message delivered by phone, and call management features like “do not disturb.”
Another feature called “locate me” provides simultaneous ringing or follow-me capability on up to five phones – including cell phone numbers. For businesses that want to appear to be local, local numbers can be assigned to distant locations.
In a statement, Cathy Martine, AT&T’s senior vice president for Internet telephony, described the service as: “loaded with features strengthened by the introduction of our industry-leading sub-account capabilities that we delivered to users late last year. Called AT&T CallVantage Plus, SOHO workers can receive calls when and where they want, providing each member of their business a completely customizable telephone experience. No other broadband phone provider delivers this unique control.”
Frankly, we’re impressed at the value – a great price and a very feature-rich service that now brings the SOHO many of same kinds of VoIP features enjoyed in a large office. While many of these features are already available in the standard consumer CallVantage offer, a few additions make this a very valuable offering to the SOHO, especially priced under $25 per line.
We’ll be revisiting this service with further details in future newsletters.
