* What you'll learn at Network World's Network Management seminar
Jim was recently hired by a company to help improve the reliability of its network infrastructure. Over the past year, this company has made a significant investment in VoIP and has experienced a couple of major outages. The client seemed convinced that what it needed was another layer of network redundancy or a new routing protocol.
After performing a preliminary analysis it became clear that inadequate change management caused both of the outages. Without addressing this problem, Jim’s client was trying to build a network infrastructure so robust that it could withstand any incident caused by its inadequate IT procedures.
This client is not unique. Despite the fact that the majority of WAN outages are caused by poor processes, most IT organizations focus much of their attention on enhancing technology than on enhancing processes.
Network change and configuration management is just one of the topics that will be covered at the upcoming Network World Network Management/IT Automation tour. This seminar tour will look at the concept of being an agile enterprise and provide a reality check relative to what is real and what is hype. For example, each seminar will analyze the current key management functionality such as application management and service-level management.
The tour will be in Denver on March 22, Chicago (March 24), New York (March 29) and Boston (March 31). If you live in one of those areas, kindly plan on participating at one of these highly interactive seminars.
