BlueRoam (http://www.blueroam.com) is offering a free trial of its software as a download. The software sets up an SSL gateway in customer networks, which handles authentication of remote users trying to access business networks via the Internet.
After successfully authenticating, remote machines receive a blueRoam client download that enables users to access network resources via an SSL connection.
The trial software provides the basics of what most SSL remote access gear does and gives potential customers the chance to check out the usefulness of the software without spending any money and without tying up a lot of time or equipment. All it requires is some free space on a network-connected server.
Customers who decide they like the service can sign up for it. Customers who decide they don’t like it can uninstall the software. Customers who decide that, based on the experience, they like SSL remote access but want to own their own appliance or get more features can continue their research of other vendors with the assurance that they like the general idea.
If they decide to sign up for the blueRoam service, they are billed based on two components: numbers of concurrent users and numbers of sites supported. (Up to two concurrent users are free.) Monthly prices range from $50 for five concurrent users to $200 for 25. Site fees are from $49 for one site to $189 for 10.
