IBM releases FairUCE anti-spam technology
Different companies and organizations are attacking spam from many different angles. IBM’s latest attempt puts tools in developers’ hands so that they can build better anti-spam software.

NEC developing network security analysis system
NEC Tuesday announced it is developing a network security system that will automatically monitor and analyze the configuration of security tools deployed in a network and suggest changes to fix vulnerabilities and any redundancies that exist between them.

Q&A: Novell CEO cautious about China
Novell may be a U.S. company, but as a Linux vendor it is still struggling for respect in a U.S. market dominated by Red Hat. But over the last year Jack Messman’s company has tightened up relationships with vendors like IBM, Dell and HP, and the Novell chairman and CEO hopes to eventually leverage those relationships to bring Novell’s SuSE Linux success not only to the U.S., but also to international markets. Still, Messman says that China, one of the fastest-growing and largest markets in the world, is not on his radar just yet.
