Gartner: Users want wireless without the bells and whistles

Our man at Gartner’s Mobile & Wireless Summit in Florida this week, learns that radio components will soon be cheap enough to put cellular connectivity into commercial freezers, copying machines and other gear, but recently it still took one CIO 12 months to get a straight data contract from his cellular provider. It appears users are less interested in the bells and whistles that  wireless carriers are marketing with their services and prefer to focus on more basic projects where ROI is either easily calculated or accepted as a given.
