Hopefully by now, you’ll have seen or taken a tour around our new Web site, NetworkWorld.com. It’s packed with the same content that you’d find at our old site, nwfusion.com, but with a new name and redesign. We’re now at NetworkWorld.com because we realize the name you trust in enterprise computing is Network World. And we wanted to make it easier for you to get to your destination for all the information you need to help to run your network.
Many of the changes have been to the Research Centers, which pull together all Network World resources into several technology-specific topics. The new format should make navigating easier. Some Research Centers have changed names, and some have been regrouped to make them more relevant to today’s enterprise networks.
For example, the Network Operating Systems Research Center is now Operating Systems, and the LANs and Routers/Switches Research Centers have been consolidated into the new LANs/Router page. Other changes include putting the previous Data Center Research Center resources into the Serves/Desktop and Storage centers, and putting Service Providers as a sub-topic under Wide Area Network. Other name changes include WAN Services to Wide Area Network, Web/e-commerce to E-commerce, and Network Operating Systems to Operating Systems.
To help you drill down into specific technology areas, each Research Center has a number of additional sub-topics. The LANs/Routers Research Center, for example, has the following sub-topics: Routers, Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless LANs and Vendor Solutions. The Vendor Solutions sub-topic appears in all research centers and provides a collection of relevant white papers and other resources from our advertising partners.
Another neat feature is the topic-specific search box. Not only is there a search box in each Research Center, but there is also a search box included within each of the sub-topics page that returns results that are different to those on other pages. A cool feature if you need to quickly research on a particular technology.
We’ve also moved up to the top of the page the “related links” box within each story article and Research Center, so you can see at a glance other stories or resources you might want to check out to further your education.
We’re redirecting nwfusion to networkworld.com, so no links should break.
