HP next week plans to make its “most important storage launch ever” in an attempt to regain ground against market leader EMC. The announcement ranges from a set of disk storage systems to a series of WAN acceleration appliances to a virtual tape library.

A Miami Beach company suing Cisco for alleged patent infringement has named 110 products it claims infringe on its patents, worth damages totaling $8.8 billion.

Missing back-up tapes spur encryption at Time Warner
Time Warner this week said it will “quickly” begin encrypting all data saved to back-up tapes after 40 tapes with personal information on about 600,000 current and former employees were lost in transit to a storage facility.
