University takes go-slow approach to VoIP

Convergence ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. That’s the verdict of the University of San Francisco, whose IT staff balked at the cost of upgrading the school’s infrastructure to go all-IP. Instead, the university is installing voice gear that lets it migrate slowly.

Sun acquisition to boost IT services portfolio

Sun has agreed to purchase Ashburn, Va., IT services company SevenSpace, the companies announced Monday. With the purchase, Sun takes a further step away from its traditional focus on supporting only its Solaris operating system platform and beefs up its support for competing operating systems like Windows, HP-UX and AIX.
