* Upcoming Network World Technology Tour events
My colleagues at our events group have been busy these past few months developing next year’s Network World Technology Tour lineup. They’re pretty excited about the events they have planned for you and I wanted to give you a taste of what they’re working on so that you can make note of it in your 2005 planner.
If you’ve attended one of our events, you’ll know that they are moderated by an independent industry expert and assisted by one of our editors. We give you the opportunity to share with your peers your experiences of the technology being discussed and give you plenty of time to grill some of the vendors in the space and watch product demonstrations. We travel up and down the country with the tours, so an event should be easy for you to get to. And what’s more, they are free.
So what’s on the agenda for 2005? The season begins in March with two events running in parallel in different cities: Wireless and Mobility, and Network Management/IT Automation.
At the Wireless and Mobility seminar, moderators Craig Mathias, founder of the Farpoint Group and Keith Shaw, Senior Editor at Network World will discuss the best methods for wireless-enabling applications and managing wireless security, deployment and performance. If your company wants to test out wireless in 2005 or if you want to review wireless best practices, this is an event for you.
Meanwhile, the Network Management/IT Automation event, moderated by Jim Metzler, vice president of Ashton, Metzler & Associates, will be aimed at network IT buyers looking to get a better handle on applications performance. The event will also focus on how organizations can tailor their entire management infrastructure around key services criteria to ensure that the business runs optimally.
April is busy as well, with the Remote Office Networking, and WAN Optimization events traveling cross-country. The agenda of the WAN Optimization event is still being finalized, but the speakers at the Remote Office Networking seminar will discuss the issues that are driving remote networking: consolidation, cost-savings and convergence. How can you provide remote workers with secured access to corporate data as if they were on your local network?
Our ever-popular VoIP/Convergence tour heads out in June with moderator Johna Till Johnson, president of Nemertes Research guiding attendees through the deployment stage of VoIP. Johnson will discuss how to manage and secure VoIP installations.
July is storage month, and we’ll be launching our Storage/Information Management seminar. If there is something you’ve been itching to ask about virtualized storage or information lifecycle management, you’ll get your chance here.
We round out the events schedule with the Security/Identity Management tour in September, where we discuss how identity management is being used to address the blurring network perimeter. Identity management is set to give back enterprises and end users control of their digital security.
Wrapping up the year will be what’s becoming a familiar Network World events double-act – John Gallant, Network World president and editorial director and Johna Till Johnson teaming up to put into perspective the technology developments of 2005 and look forward to 2006.
