Microsoft nixes Windows XP for Itanium
It’s now official: Intel’s Itanium 2 will not be used for workstations. With no hardware vendors behind the processor at the workstation level, Microsoft has cut Windows XP development for it. Instead, Microsoft will support 32-bit processors with 64-bit extensions.

Oracle Tuesday said that it has extended its tender offer for PeopleSoft’s outstanding shares by two days, after narrowly missing the volume of shares it requires to bring the merger to a speedy close.
