* Keep hackers at bay by applying latest Microsoft patch
A few days after a recent Web Applications newsletter about Microsoft’s fix to an Internet Explorer bug that could allow potential abuse of user logins in HTTP URLs (see links below) the company has finally released a patch.
Thanks to readers Stephen Van Domelen, Darren Hayduk, and Larry Cummings for finding the patch and letting me know about it. This patch was released on Feb. 10 as Security Update KB832894. If you haven’t fixed this problem in the next couple of days, you are being negligent and running your organization with unacceptable risks.
While this fix may seem to be preventing a problem that will occur very, very rarely, the danger of such exploits is quite real and the more value that is tied up in your network the greater the risk that the bad guys will come a’callin’.
