Tripwire is a company with some powerful friends. To help in an ambitious effort to make sure your company’s files don’t get tampered with, Tripwire has enlisted HP, IBM, Sun and others. Tripwire’s idea is to create a huge database of file “signatures” – so if someone mucked up your files, you’d know it, because the files’ signatures would have changed. Naturally, creating this database has all sorts of security issues of its own, so it will take some time to make it a reality.
