MCI Wednesay said it has hired Richard Roscitt, former president of AT&T Business Services, as its president and COO.

Roscitt joins MCI after two years as chairman and CEO of ADC Telecommunications. Prior to moving to ADC, Roscitt spent 28 years with AT&T, MCI said in a statement.

Currently a member of the board of directors of the Telecommunications Industry Association, Roscitt is also a member of the Associates Committee of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association and a CEO member of the The Technology Network, or TechNet, a network of CEOs pushing for government policies to boost the “new economy,” MCI said.

Roscitt will be based at MCI’s headquarters in Ashburn, Va., and will begin work on Sept. 1, MCI said. MCI is still legally known as WorldCom.
