Motorola Chairman and CEO Christopher Galvin is retiring and will leave the communications equipment vendor as soon as a successor is named, the company announced Friday.
Galvin plans to work closely with the board of directors’ search committee to find a replacement, Motorola said in a statement.
Galvin was elected CEO in January 1997 and chairman in June 1999, according to the Web site of the Schaumburg, Ill., company.
