EARLY MORNING:
Got a call from Jessica Fardella at Kforce. She wants to talk to me about a position at a client in the area.
Emailed her a Word version of my resume. We will meet at a restaurant in the area at 11 a.m. today. Jessica called me because she was referred to me by the manager at the engineering firm that I had interviewed with for a position that ended up being offered to someone else. The manager recommended me to her as a highly qualified individual.
Got an email from Lorena Perez, a scheduling coordinator for Netsolus. She is working on getting me an interview this afternoon. The first step will be to take a 20-question test. Once that is scored, I will be brought back in for a second interview.
Saw a posting on Dice from Technisource. Emailed Kevin Matheson at Technisource to see if I was in consideration for this position. Waiting to hear back from him.
Got an email back that I was already being considered for the position I inquired about. He explained that Dice “scrapes” the Technisource Web site for jobs.
Checked CareerBuilder and Craigslist. Nothing new on those sites.
With the downtime I currently have, I am trying to develop skills in other areas. I have been working with Parallels Desktop for Mac and have W2K Pro, XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, Solaris 10, and Fedora all running under
it. I plan on getting another Linux distro or two running as well.
One of my next projects will be to take the TACACS software that can be found on Cisco’s site and get it up and running so I can get a little more experience with it. Will probably look at getting a demo copy of Cisco ACS to work with as well.
Got a call from a Recruiting in Boston about a position in St. Louis. He figured out once I was on the phone that this wouldn’t be an option for me due to the drive. He apologized for bothering me, but would keep his eyes open for contract positions in the KC Metro area.
Met with Jessica Fardella from Kforce. The position she wanted to talk to me about was one that I had applied for directly. We went into detail about some of my experiences. I talked to her about the range of benefits that I had seen from different potential employers. She will see about the other openings they are currently looking to fill and will follow up with me.
While I was driving to the interview with the folks at Netsolus, I got a call from the HR department at HR Central Credit Union. They want to bring me inhouse for the next series of interviews. We agreed to this coming Wednesday at 1 p.m. They are sending out a group scheduling request to everyone that I will be meeting with. They will get back with me once they have heard back from everyone concerned.
THE INTERVIEW:
Went to the interview with the folks at Netsolus. I sat down with the CEO and the scheduling person who handles the customer requests. The company has an interesting business model and is in the process of making some changes that, if selected, I would be coming in on the ground floor to work with.
We went over my job experiences and talked in detail about customer communication and keeping the customer happy. The interview seemed to go well. I am supposed to get a followup call from the CIO and we will see where things go from there.
Had a brief phone conversation with the CIO about what he was looking for in terms of experience for the position he is looking to fill. Gave me some things to think about and to do some research since the job will involve working with equipment from Juniper that I havent had any experience with.
Got an email from the scheduling person at Netsolus to arrange a time to talk with the CIO the next day.
