The merry-go-round of start-ups and acquisitions that keeps our industry ticking is nicely described in a couple of blog postings by Brad Reese on Cisco. He’s got a Q&A with two former Cisco wireless execs who broke away to establish Agito Networks, maker of ‘location-aware’ mobility products. Agito CTO Tim Olson and marketing VP Pejman Roshan served as technical leader and product line manager at Cisco’s Wireless Networking Business Unit, respectively. They share with Brad their experiences of working at Cisco and describe their lessons learned at the network giant and what they can do now that they couldn’t while at Cisco. Also, is Agito’s exit plan to be acquired by Cisco? Talking of Cisco acquisitions, Brad points to a New York Times story that reports that Cisco has 50 execs scouring the globe for potential acquisitions, working with leaders of Cisco product teams to sniff out companies that could plug holes in Cisco’s product line-up or take it into new markets. Ned Hooper, Cisco senior VP for corporate business development says it’s a matter of time before the company buys a firm in China or India.
