Day 42
Got a call from Lance Boecker of TekSystems about a position with a local CLEC. This one is pure contract with no opportunity for permanent employment. It is a six-month position with a chance for renewal. Since nothing else is promising in terms of employement at this point, I told him to go ahead and put me in consideration.
Got a call from Justin Stancil with Modis. He wanted to let me know that I am in consideration with a client of theirs. The client is still accepting resumes. No interviews have been schedule for anyone at this point. He will let me know when he has any further info on this position.
Got an email from Deborah Hammack with Cornerstones of Care about a Director of MIS position they are looking to fill. I responded back that I was available on all the days they were looking to interview. We exchanged emails as the day progressed confirming the date and time of the Interview.
I then looked at their Web site to get additional information and background on the company. I tried to download the latest annual report but it wasn’t on the Website, although the link was there. I emailed the HR person letting them know the problem I had found (letting them know I was looking at the Web site) and requesting the information be emailed to me.
Got a call from Jeff Bluitt at Paige Tech LLC. The position I was being considered for has been filled. I don’t feel bad about that since both the interviews I had with the client hadn’t left me with good feelings as to what the client was looking for. The last interview I had with them never did make sense to me. They got hung up on my Novell background even though I hadn’t done anything with it in years. They had also expressed a concern that I hadn’t worked with a large company’s network infrastructure. Guess they didn’t consider Hallmark Cards a large enough operation.
Got a call from Rashiod Pruitt at Spartan Resources. I have been put in consideration for the IT Security position with the client they are representing. They hope to hear something in a day or so as to if/when they would like to schedule an interview.
I modified my spreadsheet that I have been using to track my job search process. One tab now tracks the jobs I have applied for. The other tab serves as a contact log where I keep track of the different recruiters I talk to and/or interviews that I have. Had to start doing that a little more formally so I can produce the information when requested by the Kansas unemployment folks.
