How boring are the session at Interop?
Well let me tell you that they are pretty boring, I have moved around and sat through three days of different sessions and moderators. I have not found one yet that has kept people in the room, seems like after 15 minutes people are up and out looking for something better. I was hoping for some interesting talk between vendors in different areas. But it seems like none of the vendors really want to be in the same room as the competition.
I found a more interesting conversation between two networking executives at the pool bar this afternoon, sounds bad but that’s where the good conversations take place. I wish Interop would put people on the spot and talk about products with the vendors. Put Cisco, Riverbed, Juniper and others in a room and talk about the future of the products and verticals. How about Cisco, Nortel, Foundry and other in another session? That would be a great session, but that will never happen. We are stuck with executives that are gun shy, have a hard time taking in front of a crowed and are boring.
Interop you really need to spice things up, there were more people doing email in the session than listening to the speakers. If it was not for the free stuff that vendors give out at booths, people might not even come to the booth.
