Hi Everyone, Welcome to the blog, Just the Fax with David Hanes! I am looking forward to blogging on fax technologies and fax over IP (FoIP) solutions. First, let me provide you with a little background about myself. My first step into the world of computer networking happened right out of college when I joined Sprint as a Systems Engineer working with the X.25 and Frame Relay protocols. From there, I joined Cisco in 1997 as a Technical Assistance Center (TAC) engineer, where I served on a number of different teams specializing initially in WAN technologies and then later in VoIP. About two years ago, I transitioned to the Customer Assurance Engineering (CAE) team within Cisco, where I now concentrate on FoIP technologies. I spend most of my time helping other Cisco engineers and customers with FoIP design, troubleshooting, and implementation while also presenting at conferences, providing training, and testing new FoIP products and features. I look forward to sharing FoIP information with all of you on this blog, and I plan on writing on topics such as Quality of Service (QoS) for FoIP, T.38 fax relay, T.37 Store-and-Forward fax, G.711 passthrough, and fax server technology. Of course, looking at how these subjects integrate with Cisco Unified Communications networks will also be a primary focus. My preference is for this blog to be as interactive and useful as possible so I look forward to all of your comments and feedback. -David
