Personally, I hated this song when it was first released and was never much of a Journey fan (with all due respect to Steve Perry’s amazing voice). However, with the final scene of the final episode of The Sopranos having permanently hard-wired the tune into my brain, I’ve come around enough to call it catchy.
I am not alone, apparently.

California stadium rockers Journey have reached an unlikely milestone in popular song: their power ballad Don’t Stop Believin’ has become the biggest-ever catalogue song on digital platforms.
First made available through Apple’s service in April 2003, it is the first catalogue song – meaning a song released in the pre-digital era, but later re-released through the iTunes store – to exceed sales of 2 (million downloads), according to statistical powerhouse SoundScan.
I still don’t care much for the way the Sopranos ended.
