Amid all the interest surrounding Google’s new voice-recognition search feature for the Apple iPhone, one main issue was lost.
According to TechCrunch’s sources, Google fully expected the application to hit the App Store on Friday to accompany its impressive marketing and press blitz. TechCrunch explains the mixup this way:
Sometime Friday they found out Apple wouldn’t be pushing it, despite the fact that Google submitted it for review earlier in the week and got a thumbs up for Friday. One source says they’ve had little direct contact with Apple during the review, instead getting their updates via the standard iPhone developer tool, which has said “in review” for the last few days.
If this is how Apple treats its biggest developer partners, it does not bode well for smaller developers with less clout than Google. Maybe next time Google should just roll out its new tools for Android, and leave Apple waiting in the wings.
