While the Department of Justice seemed to pooh-pooh Google’s anticompetitive charges, state attorney generals might take up the banner.
“A group of state attorneys general will decide later this week whether to pursue legal action against software giant Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) over allegations of anticompetitive conduct, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said Monday … A group of state attorneys general including Connecticut and California is now determining how to react to the claims made by Google.”
A bit of analysis by ARS Technica came to the conclusion that Microsoft may find it easier to appease Google than to go to war over this. Remember, the EU is still all over Microsoft from its last round with anticompetitive charges. It is waiting for a decision from the EU expected to come September 17.
